The short version

A new roof is one of the few parts of a build you only get one shot at. Everything else can be pulled apart and redone later without much drama. The roof sits over the top of all of it, and if it is wrong, you find out slowly and expensively. We install new roofs on new builds, extensions and full roofing projects right across Melbourne and Geelong.

We work to the plans and to the pitch you have, and we will tell you early if something in the design is going to cause grief later. Valleys that are too shallow, a box gutter with nowhere to go, a junction between an extension and an original roof that needs more thought than a bead of silicone.

The part most people never see is the part that matters most: sarking, battens, the fall on the valleys, how the flashings are formed where the roof meets a wall. We do that properly because it is the only time anyone is going to be able to.

Call Aaron on 0427 149 270 or send through the details and we will come back to you.

How it runs

How a new roof runs

  1. 01

    Plans and site visit

We look at the drawings, the pitch, the access and the staging, then quote the whole job rather than a square metre rate with surprises in it.

  2. 02

    Materials ordered

Tiles, battens, sarking, flashings and fixings specified for the job and confirmed with you before anything is bought.

  3. 03

    Frame checked and prepared

We check the frame is true and ready, then sark and batten out to the right spacings for the product.

  4. 04

    Laid, bedded and pointed

Tiles laid, ridges and hips bedded and pointed, valleys and flashings formed and sealed.

  5. 05

    Cleaned down and handed over

Site cleared, offcuts removed, gutters cleared out and a walk through of what was done.

In detail

Extensions are their own problem

Joining a new roof to an old one is where most extension leaks are born. The new section is at a different pitch, the tiles are a different profile, and the junction has to be flashed rather than fudged.

We will tell you up front whether your existing tiles can be matched, what the junction needs, and whether it is worth relaying a section of the original roof while the scaffold is already up. It is usually cheaper to do it now than to come back.

New roof tiles going onto a new roof frame

A new roof gets laid once. Everything underneath it depends on that week going right.

New roof installation: your questions

Not covered here? Ring Aaron on 0427 149 270 and ask.

Do you work directly with builders?

Yes. We are happy to work to a builder's program and coordinate with the frame and the plumber. We are also happy to deal with you directly if you are owner building.

Can you match the tiles on my existing roof for an extension?

Often, but not always. Profiles get discontinued and colours fade. We will look at what you have, tell you how close a match we can get, and show you the options before you commit.

How long does a new roof take?

It depends on the size, the pitch, the weather and the access. We give you a realistic window when we quote rather than an optimistic one.
