Two ways to do it
We build both and we have no horse in the race. Tell us the length of the run, the height you want and what the ground is doing, and we will quote whichever makes more sense.
Timber fencing is the default along most Melbourne and Geelong back boundaries, and there is a reason for it. Done properly it is private, it looks right against a brick or weatherboard house, and it is straightforward to repair one panel at a time.

In Victoria a boundary fence is generally a shared cost between neighbours and there is a formal notice process. We will give you a written quote you can hand over. For the legal side, the Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria is the right place to check.
